Description: Oak Ridge operates the Legal Internship Program for the U.S. Department of Energy. Internships are available with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory or the Hazardous Waste Remedial Action Program, both located in Oak Ridge, TN or the Savannah River site at Aiken, SC. Students may be placed with either DOE attorneys or attorneys for government contractors. The program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to become familiar with all phases of environmental and energy law affecting the facility.

Internship/Seasonal Positions: Interns are assigned independent energy related legal questions to research and analyze in such areas as waste management, environmental issues, facility security, operational safeguards, human and health effects and administrative law. Federal or contractor staff attorneys will serve as mentor and provide advice and guidance. Students should have some exposure to environmental law or energy issues.
