Description: Federal Defender Services provides defense services to indigents charged with federal crimes in the Eastern District of Tennessee. There are three offices located in Greeneville, Knoxville and Chattanooga. The case load is varied and may range from as minor as riding a motorcycle without out a helmet to bank robbery or homicide.
Internship/Seasonal Positions: Interns work on volunteer basis assisting staff public defenders with their caseload. This generally involves extensive research and writing on motion and appeals. Students are also encouraged to attend court hearings, arraignments and trials.
