Description: The U.S. Department of the Interior serves as the principal resource conservation agency for the federal government. The Pacific Northwest Regional Office has 21 attorneys who represent the seven Departmental Services with headquaters located in this regiaon. Repsponsibilities include providing legal counsel to the Fish and Wildlife Service on water law, legal advice to the Bureau of Land Management on public land law, counsel to the Bureau of Indian Affairs on protecting Indian treaty rights and reviewing concession contacts issued by the National Park Service.

Internship Description: Interns work for ten weeks and are assigned to a specific area of the office. These areas include Natural Resources, Water, Indian Affairs and General Law. All students work under the direct supervision of a staff attorney and the staff is committed to ensuring that each clerk has a positive educational experience. Students should indicate their preference regarding areas of exposure as part of the application process.
